Beara -Breifne Greenway The O'Sullivan Beara Historic Route as part of the European Greenway

Clan: O'Keeffe

Other branches of the clan: O'Keefe, Keafe, Keeff, Keife, Keiff, Keiffe.
Irish Clan Name: O'Caoimh.

This surname is a Cork name originating form the forename Caomh (gentle). Art Caemh was the son of the King of Munster who was slain in 902. In Norman times the O'Keeffes remained in County Cork, being driven from one area to another. This movement brought about the lasting placename Pobal O'Keeffe in the Dunhallow region of West Cork. To this day the O'Keeffes are a numerically strong name in their native Cork and in the province of Munster. As with all clans, O'Keeffes were driven into exile.

Millstreet is part of the ancestral home of the OSullivans and forms a stage of the Beara-Breifne Greenway which is based on the historic march of O'Sullivan Beara in 1603.
