Beara -Breifne Greenway The O'Sullivan Beara Historic Route as part of the European Greenway




Cloonloo is a small rural settlement on the shores of Lough Gara. Cloonloo village consist of a church, a small number of houses, a pub and a post office. While Killaraght nearby has a church and a few houses. The two villages may be small but what they lack in size they make up for in their friendliness. The two areas have between them a number of interesting places to visit around and close to the lake.

Clan Name

Cloonloo is part of the ancestral home of the O'Garas and forms a stage of the Beara-Breifne Greenway which is based on the historic march of O'Sullivan Beara in 1603.

Greenways Festival 2003

Cloonloo is talking part in the Greenways Festival in summer 2003 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the legendary 1603 march of O’Sullivan Beara from the Beara Peninsula to the Breifne area. Click here for info on the events
