Tousist
is an area, which stretches along 37km (23 miles) of the northern
coastline of the Beara peninsula and has much to offer to the tourist
who seeks the wild and tamed beauty of South Kerry.
The
Derreen tropical gardens are situated 8km (5 miles) from Ardgroom
are the Derreen tropical gardens. Planted over a hundred years ago
by the fifth Lord Landsdowne, the gardens boast a wealth of sub-tropical
plants and flowers. You can take one of the planned walks through
the glades of eucalyptus, giant blue gums and bamboo, which thrive
in the soft Kerry climate, and wonder at 43m (140-ft) giant red
Cedars.
The
Cloonee lakes, Inchiquin Lake, Uragh Lake and Glenmore Lake are
ideal for fly-fishing for salmon, trout and sea trout. Day permits
for shore fishing at Inchiquin and Uragh lakes are available from
Kenmare angling club - enquire locally. Boats are available for
hire at Cloonee Lake as well as for deep sea angling from Kilmacilogue
