The Beara Way

The Beara Way, incorporating part of the O'Sullivan Bere Way, is a long distance walking route around the spectacular peninsula with a large concentration of historical and archaeological sites en route. The main towns on the route are Kenmare, Glengarrif and Castletownbere (a commercial fishing port and an excellent centre for exploring the peninsula). There are a number of colourful villages in between Allihies, Ardgroom, Adrigole and Eyeries. Bere Island and Dursey Island offer excellent walking after a short trip by ferry or cable car.

Total Distance: 196 km/ 120 miles.
Longest Stage: Adrigole to Castletowbere (24km/14miles)
Highest Point: East of Lough Inchiquim-370m/1210ft.

The Ballyhoura Way
An attractive and varied walking route which includes lowlands, mountains and river banks passes through the picturesque town of Galbally. In 1603 the Irish chieftain, O'Sullivan Bere and his followers, hunted by the English, passed this way on their flight to Leitrim. You can retrace their steps across the pastures and highlands in Ballyhoura , with views of the rolling acres of the Golden Vale and the six counties of Munster. The Scene from the summit of Slievenamuc sweeps from the majestic Galtee Mountains to the rich Glen of Aherlow.

The Suck Valley Way

The Suck Valley Way on the borders of West Roscommon and East Galway, incorporating part of the O'Sullivan Bere Way, offers walkers an opportunity to experience the beauty, peace and tranquility of this oval-shaped walk.
The route offers an attractive and varied coutryside and passes over hillsides, through forest, woodlands, bogland and along the banks of the River Suck and its many lakes and through open countryside.There is a wide range of historical and archaeological sites en route, including a unique La Tène Stone dating back to the Iron Age. For naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts it is a real haven, offering a rich variety of flora and fauna. Take time out and meet and talk with the local people in the way villages and small towns along the route.

The Miner's Way & Historical Trail

The route traverses the hills and valleys of Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo. It leaves the Leitrim Way at Dowra and passes north of Lough Allen. It then meanders through the coalmining territory of the Arigna Mountains, tracing the ancient routes followed by the coalminers on their way to work. Then it goes westward through the Lough Key Forest Park to Boyle as the Historical Trail. In then crosses the Curlew Mountains and the Bricklieve Mountains, Skirting the many megalithic burial mounds of this area. From Castlebaldwin it heads eastward to rejoin the Miners' Way near Ballyfarnon.

Sli Liatroma
A walk trough a variety of landscape forms common to this beautiful but little known part of Ireland. Starting by following the east shore of Lough Allen, the walker travels through increasingly beautiful scenery until reaching the upland wilderness of Barlear. The route is made up of tracks old and new in its entirety, resulting in a fast pace. It is generally more attractive to walk from Drumshanbo to Manorhamilton.

The Cavan Way

The Cavan Way provides a pleasant hill and valley walking connection between the Leitrim way between at Dowra on the river Shannon and the Ulster Way at Blacklion vilage. Following generally the course of the young river to its source at the mystical Shannon "Pot", the walk follows quiet valley and riverside Landscapes to the more unenclosed uplands section between the "Pot" and Blacklion, which includes the forested Burren area and its cemetery of ancient tombs, stone megaliths and monuments. Fine views are obtained from these elevated upland areas.
